Top reasons to joun the armed forces

Having a career within the armed forces is a prestigious thing and one which holds great honour and pride. You may have concerns as to whether it is the right decision for you, so continue reading for reasons to join the armed forces.

Do something good for your country

Some members of the armed forces believe that there is no greater honour than serving your country. Certainly, it is a career which is deemed stable, respectable and shows bravery. It is always good to give something back to those around you and there is something very special about doing that for your entire country.

   Varied Opportunities

There are so many options for you if you are considering joining the armed forces. From chef to engineer, nurse to pilot, there are roles beyond the typical ones you envisage when you think of the army, for example. Whether you remain in the forces until retirement or leave earlier, you are bound to feel accomplished as there are so many ways to work up the career ladder and earn a decent salary. Plus, no one can ever say that a career in the armed forces is boring.

   Fitness

Being in the armed forces will mean that you are expected to have a certain level of fitness. If exercise is something you love, whether it be for the endorphins, strength or the way your body looks, being able to get paid for doing it can be a real buzz. Furthermore, you will also have the opportunity to join an array of sports clubs.

   Itís safer than you think

Although there are still great risks associated with being in the armed forces, it is a safer career than most people think. From the latest plate carrier to the most responsive firearms, the armed forces will provide you with everything you need to maximise your chances of representing your country and staying alive whilst doing so.

   Job satisfaction

Although it can be a shock to the system having to live and work in such a regimented way, the job satisfaction you can feel when you are part of a strong team can certainly make that worthwhile. The work the armed forces does in other countries goes far beyond protection of our own country. You could be deployed somewhere where you will help the community to rebuilt after the trauma of war. Knowing that you are doing good for your own country as well as others can be a really powerful and positive thing.

   Job security

With unemployment being an issue that many people are currently facing, joining the armed forces could alleviate the worry relating to job hunting. Careers within the forces are relatively secure, with other opportunities available should your current position no longer be an option. Although the pay does not seem fantastic on the surface, the benefits that come with it can outweigh that. Food, accommodation and even free health and dental care are just some of the things that you can expect to receive when you are part of the military.
