The Zoljanah special wheeled chassis was developed in Iran. Official sources report, that this high mobility chassis is intended to carry indigenous Bavar 373 long-range air defense missile system that is claimed to be an improved version of the Soviet S-300 PMU. It is claimed that Iran had no suitable vehicle to carry the Bavar 373 missiles, so it had to develop indigenous machine. However it is more likely that this vehicle is intended to carry nuclear-tipped ballistic missiles. As air defense systems do not require such a large vehicle. A prototype of the Zoljanah was first publicly revealed in 2012. In 2014 an updated version of this vehicle appeared.

The Iranian Zoljanah resembles a Chinese Wanshan WS2500, which in turn is an updated version of the Belarusian MZKT. Also it is possible that the Zoljanah is based on a Belarusian MZKT or Russian KZKT 10x10 special wheeled chassis. However Iranian Zoljanah has some significant differences, such as different engine, that has been relocated.

This military vehicle is highly mobile. It can operate off-road. The Zoljanah has a payload capacity of 30 000 kg. The main role of the Zoljanah 10x10 chassis is to carry air defense missiles. However this vehicle could be tailored to suit other roles. It could be also used to carry ballistic missiles, radars and other associated military equipment.

Cab of this vehicle accommodates driver and co-driver. The cab is tilted forward for engine access and maintenance.

The Zoljanah is likely to be powered by Iranian-made turbocharged diesel engine, developing about 500 hp. Its design might be based on a German Deutz engine. Engine is located under the cab. It is worth noting that engines of the Belarusian, Russian and Chinese 10x10 heavy high mobility trucks are located behind the cab. Engine relocation allowed to save space for the cargo or special equipment. Vehicle has a 10x10 configuration. Three axles of the Zoljanah are steerable - both front axles and the last axle. Vehicle is fitted with a central tyre inflation system.

In 2014 another Zafar 8x8 special wheeled chassis appeared in Iran. It is also intended to carry components of the Bavar 373 air defense missile system, and possibly other weapon systems.
