The
Ural-6370 is a militarized version of commercial heavy-duty truck.
It was revealed in 2012. Its civilian version is produced since
2010. It was aimed at a possible Russian Army requirement, as well as
export customers.
On hard
surface roads the
Ural-6370 has a payload capacity of just over 20 000 kg. It can
carry significantly more load than an older
Ural-4320 truck, that is widely used by the Russian military. A baseline
version is a general service troop/cargo carrier. Vehicle is fitted
with drop-sides and drop-tailgate. Cargo area is covered with bows
and canvas cover. This military truck can also tow trailers and
artillery pieces on all kinds of roads and over rough terrain. The
Ural-6370 was also proposed as a dump truck and tractor truck.
Depending on customer requirements this military truck may be also
configured to carry various other bodies or specialized equipment.
Vehicle is
available only with a sleeper cab. A similar cab is used on
Belarusian MAZ trucks. It provides seating for driver and
one passenger. There is a sleeper berth for a single person. The cab is tilted forward for engine access and
maintenance.
The
Ural-6370 uses a number of Western automotive components. Vehicle is
powered by a YaMZ-652 turbocharged diesel engine, developing 412 hp.
It is a Renault dCi 11 engine, produced in Russia under license. It meets
EURO 4 emission requirements. Engine is mated to a manual ZF 16-speed
transmission. Vehicle has 6x6 configuration with a full-time all-wheel
drive. This truck uses Hungarian Raba axles. A central tyre inflation system is available.
This military truck has good cross-country performance and can
travel over difficult terrain, though it is not as good off-road as
the older Ural-4320 truck. Maximum speed of a loaded vehicle is
limited to 80 km/h.
Variants
Ural-6370-1151 is a dump truck chassis. Depending on customer
requirements it can be also configured to carry various specialized
equipment instead of the dumper body.
Ural-63701-1951 is a chassis cab version with a longer wheelbase,
intended to carry various specialized equipment. This vehicle is
9.37 m long.
Ural-63701
tractor truck.
Ural-63704-0151 is a tractor truck. It can tow semi trailers with
main battle, tanks, tracked artillery systems, various armored
vehicles, fuel tanks, radars, construction materials as well as
various other military loads over long distances. It can haul around
50 000 kg. This tractor truck was approved
for procurement by the Russian military, however there were no
actual production orders for this vehicle. Maximum speed of a loaded
vehicle is limited to 60 km/h.
Ural-63704-0010 is
a purpose-designed military truck. Even though it uses similar
automotive components as the Ural-6370 family, it has got different
appearance with a bonneted cab. It is a member of the new Russian
Tornado-U family of military vehicles. It has a payload capacity of
16 000 kg. The baseline version is a troop/cargo carrier. Cab of
this truck can be fitted with add-on armor kit for protection
against small arms fire and artillery shell splinters. It also
provides some degree of protection against mine blasts and
improvised explosive devices. The Ural-63704-0010 was approved for
procurement by the Russian military. Production of this truck
reportedly commenced in 2016.
