Shaanxi SX2306

   The Shaanxi SX2306 is a new China's military truck. In 2020 some of these military trucks may have been delivered to the China's military. It will become a replacement for the ageing Huanghe JN252.

   In concept this new military truck resembles a US HEMTT. It has a similar layout with a forward control cab and engine located behind and under the cab. Other China's automotive components also developed their versions of the US HEMTT. One of them was a Wanshan WS2250. North Benz also developed a similar 8x8 military truck. Over the years China managed to copy and deploy operationally pretty much all successful military vehicles of the world.

   The Shaanxi SX2306 is a purpose designed tactical vehicle that can operate off road. Its main role is unit resupply. It can carry various loads to the frontline. Also is used for mounting of various specialized equipment. In 2020 this military truck was observed modified as a resupply vehicle for the HQ-17A short-range air defense missile system.

   This China's military truck has a payload capacity of around 10-15 t. It can also tow trailers and artillery pieces.

   This truck has an armored cab. It provides protection against small arms fire and artillery shell splinters. The cab accommodates driver and one or two passengers. A stretched cab, that can accommodate more passengers, was also observed. There is a roof hatch for observation, firing and emergency exit.

   The Shaanxi SX2306 is powered by a diesel engine, developing around 450 hp. Engine is located behind and under the cab. Such layout allowed to reduces vehicle height. Also this prevents blockade of radiator with mud as the cooling system is also located behind the cab.

Variants

   Shaanxi SX2220 is a smaller version with 6x6 configuration. It has a payload capacity of around 12 t.
