   The RhinoRUNNER is an armored bus. It has a high level of protection against mine blasts and improvised explosive devices. This unique vehicle was originally developed by Labock Technologies and is manufactured by Armour Group Inc. It is intended to transport personnel, both civilians and armed forces in high-risk areas under armor protection. It can be also used to carry VIPs. More than 50 RhinoRUNNER buses were delivered to the US Army. These were used in Iraq and Afghanistan to transport troops between bases.

   The RhinoRUNNER uses components of lowest possible weight and cost. However its lightweight armor delivers very high level of protection. It uses a number of commercially available off-the-shelf components to reduce production and servicing costs.

   This armored bus is operated by one driver. Interior is configurable and accommodates 19 to 40 passengers. Passengers enter and exit via side and back doors. Also there are roof hatches for emergency exit. The bus can be made in various sizes.

   Vehicle is made of special composite armor. It provides protection from small arms fire, including 5.56-mm and 7.62-mm armor-piercing rounds, artillery shell fragments, landmines, road-side bombs and improvised explosive devices. The RhinRUNNER offers higher level of mine protection than the current US Army MRAP vehicles. It is claimed that this armored bus withstands explosions equivalent to up to 450 kg of TNT. In 2004 a suicide bomber driving a vehicle loaded with over 100 kg of explosives, detonated it near the RhinoRUNNER. All 17 passengers and the driver aboard escaped without injuries.

   One interesting feature, that ballistic glass of the RhinoRUNNER not only offers superior protection, but allows to return fire. It prevents the penetration of the bullets from outside, but allows the passage of bullets fired by the passengers.

   This mine protected bus is powered by a Cummins 5.88-liter turbocharged diesel engine, developing 240 hp. Vehicle has a 4x4 configuration with full-time all-wheel drive. It is fitted with run-flat tyres.

  This armored bus can be tailored to suit different purposes. It can be also based on a 6x6 all-wheel drive chassis.

Variants

   RhinoMEDIC mobile hospital. It is based on the RhinoRUNNER armored bus. In 2010 Afghanistan ordered RhinoMEDIC buses and in 2011 Pakistan ordered 20 of these mobile hospitals;

   The RhinoRUNNER can be also configured as a mobile command and control center.
