The Maneuver Sustainment Vehicle (MSV) was developed by BAE Systems to meet the US Army's Future Tactical Truck System (FTTS) requirement. It first appeared somewhere in 2011. At least two prototypes were built. However currently this vehicle is only a technology demonstrator.

One of the main US Army requirements for a new tactical truck is improved fuel efficiency. The MSV has a hybrid diesel electric propulsion. This truck is much more fuel efficient than the current US Army heavy logistic trucks. This vehicle is rapidly deployable. It can self-load and operate in hostile environment.

The Maneuver Sustainment Vehicle has a payload capacity of 13 t. This truck is fitted with a semi-robotic hydraulic loading unit. It self-loads and unloads standard flatracks. Also this loading unit can be used for material handling. It can be operated from within the cab. Vehicle can also tow trailers. The MSV can be used for local and line haul, unit resupply and related tactical missions.

The Maneuver Sustainment Vehicle has an integrated armored cab. It provides protection against small arms fire and artillery shell splinters. There is an observation hatch on the roof. Vehicle can be armed with a roof-mounted heavy machine gun or, possibly, remotely controlled weapon station. Vehicle has a 360 degree camera system. It allows to control the loading unit from within the protected cab.

The Maneuver Sustainment Vehicle has a hybrid-electric propulsion. It is powered by an 8.8-liter Caterpillar C9 diesel, developing 450 hp. It is combined with electric motor, developing 120 kW. Power of electric motor is equivalent to 160 hp. Vehicle has an Allison 7-speed automatic transmission. As a result the MSV is much more fuel efficient than the current US Army 8x8 heavy logistics vehicles. It has an unrefueled range of 960-1 440 km, depending on road conditions.

Suspension of this tactical truck has adjustable ground clearance.
