The GT-T is a tracked transport vehicle. It was designed in the late 1950s as an all-terrain artillery tractor for Northern areas of the Soviet Union. It can carry troops, weapons, ammunition and other military cargo over difficult terrain in remote areas. It can be also used as a front line load carrier for anything from ammunition to fuel. First vehicles were produced in 1962. Full-scale production commenced in 1963. The GT-T was produced in large numbers. It was widely used by the Soviet Army, as well as civil operators.

The GT-T has great cross-country mobility. This vehicle can go over swamps, sand and snow. It can be also used in mountainous terrain.

This tracked cargo carrier can carry loads with a maximum weight of 2 t. It can transport 21 soldiers in the cargo area, or various supplies. The cargo area is covered with bows and cover, made of special material.

The GT-T can tow special trailers or artillery pieces with a maximum weight of 4 t.

The cab accommodates driver plus 3 passengers. The cab is directly connected with the cargo area.

This tracked carrier is powered by a V-6A diesel engine, developing 200 hp. Engine is located at the front. This vehicle is thirsty on fuel. Fuel consumption is abut 100-110 liters for 100 km of road. The GT-T has a watertight hull and is fully amphibious. On water it is propelled by its tracks.

This tracked carrier can operate in extreme temperatures ranging from -45C to +45C.
