The M1114GR
is an armored version of the US
HMMWV,
assembled in Greece by ELVO. It was developed in cooperation with
Israeli Plasan armored vehicle manufacturer, who developed armored
protection suite. This vehicle is in
service with the Hellenic Army. It seems that deliveries commenced
in 2007.
The ELVO
M1114GR can carry around 1 300 kg of payload. It accommodates driver
and 4 passengers. The M1114GR is equipped with a Russian
Kornet anti-tank guided missile
launcher. Vehicle has storage room for 10 missiles. Also there are
ELVO M1115GR, equipped with 40 mm automatic grenade launcher, and
M1118GR reconnaissance vehicle. Both of these are also armored versions, assembled in Greece by ELVO.
Furthermore
ELVO also produced M1116GR ambulance and M1117GR open-top special
forces vehicle, and engineering version based on the HMMWV. However
all of these vehicles are unarmored. These vehicles are in service
with Hellenic Army.
The M1114GR
provides protection against 7.62x39 mm armor-piercing rounds. It
withstands explosions equivalent to 3.5 kg under any wheel.
Vehicle is
fitted with multiple access doors. There is a
roof hatch fitted with a standard machine gun ring.
Vehicle is
powered by a Detroit Diesel 6.2-liter diesel engine, developing 130
hp. Engine is mated with an automatic transmission. A wide track was
designed to drive in tracks left by the main battle tanks. Vehicle is fitted with a
central tyre inflation system. This Greek light protected vehicle
retains the HMMWV's tactical agility and cross-country mobility.
Variants
M1115GR
light protected vehicle, armed with a 40 mm automatic grenade
launcher.
M1118GR
armored reconnaissance vehicle. Hellenic Army ordered 60 of these
protected vehicles. 40 of them were ordered with BOR-A 550 ground
and coast surveillance radar and 20 protected vehicles with MSP-350
MARGOT XXL reconnaissance equipment.
