The Dongfeng CSK141 is Chinese light protected vehicle. It was developed by Dongfeng company as a private venture. It was first publicly revealed in 2014. At the time of its introduction this vehicle was also called the Mengshi (Chinese for brave soldier). Essentially it is a stretched version of the CSK131 and accommodates more passengers. This armored vehicle is used by the Chinese army. Operational version was seen on 2015 military parade.

Even though the CSK141 is by no means a dedicated armored personnel carrier, it has got an armored hull and provides protection for the crew and passengers against small arms fire and artillery shell splinters. All-round protection is against 7.62x39 mm ball rounds. Front arc withstands hits from 7.62x39 mm armor-piercing rounds. The Dongfeng CSK141 can be seen as China's equivalent of uparmored HMMWV.

The CSK141 accommodates driver and 9 passengers. This protected vehicle has unusual rear clamshell doors on either side. The upper part opens upwards, while the lower part opens downwards. There is also a rear door for entry and exit. Vehicle has a payload capacity of 1 200 kg and can carry various cargo and supplies instead of troops. It can also tow light trailers and artillery pieces.

There is a roof hatch and a roof-mounted 12.7 mm machine gun, or alternatively, a 35 mm automatic grenade launcher. Depending on customer requirement other weapons can be mounted on the roof, including remotely-controlled weapon stations.

Vehicle is powered by an ISDe 200-41 turbocharged diesel engine, developing 200 hp. It is a license-produced Cummins engine. Vehicle has a full-time all-wheel drive and is fitted with a central tyre inflation system. It improved mobility over difficult terrains, such as sand, mud and snow. Wide track of this vehicle allows to drive in tracks left by the main battle tanks. Vehicle is equipped with a self-recovery winch.

Variants

CS/VN11 is an export version. It was first publicly revealed in 2016. This armored vehicle has standard rear doors, rather than clamshell doors. It is fitted with a remotely controlled weapon station.

Dongfeng EQ2101 is a larger vehicle with 6x6 configuration and more powerful engine. It is available in both protected and unprotected forms. It shares automotive components with the CSK131 and CSK141 protected vehicles. Some versions of the EQ2101 are used by Chinese armed forces.
