The Chivunk is a Brazilian fast attack vehicle. It is named after a battle cry of Brazilian paratroopers. It was developed to meet requirement of Rapid Reaction Forces of Brazilian Army. Development commenced in 2003. It was developed by the former Engesa engineers, the same who developed Marrua jeep. The first prototype was officially revealed in 2006. A small number of Chivunks are in service with Brazilian armed forces. The first batch of 10 vehicles were delivered in 2013. These vehicles are used by an airmobile infantry brigade.

It is worth noting that Between 2004 and 2006 Brazil in cooperation with Argentina jointly developed a Gaucho airportable fast attack vehicle. It was planned that the Gaucho will equip armies of both countries. However Brazilian Army lost interest in this vehicle in favor of the indigenous Chivunk. So the Gaucho joint project was stopped in 2011. The Chivunk is smaller and lighter vehicle than the Gaucho.

Vehicles like Chivunk are typically used by special forces for scouting, long-range reconnaissance and hit-and-run style raids. Developers claim that it can be also used to carry cargo or evacuate casualties.

The Chivunk has a lightweight tubular body with built-in roll cage. It is essentially a buggy, that combines high speed and good cross-country mobility. This fast attack vehicle has a payload capacity of 500 kg. It carries driver and 2 passenger. One of them operates the main weapon.

This Chivunk is armed with a 7.62-mm machine gun. It can be also fitted with AT-4 or ALAC anti-tank rocket launcher.

Vehicle has a trailer hitch. If required it can tow light trailers with a maximum weight of 500 kg. It can also tow light artillery pieces such as 120-mm mortar or 105-mm field gun.

Vehicle is powered by an MWM 4.07 TCA 2.8-liter diesel engine, developing 135 hp. It is worth noting that the MWM International Motores is a Brazilian subsidiary of Navistar International, producing diesel engines for Latin America. Engine is mounted at the front. Vehicle has a 4x4 configuration and robust suspension. This military vehicle has exceptional mobility. It can travel on high speed over rough terrain.

A total of 4 Chivunks can be airlifted by C-130 or Brazilian KC-390 military transport aircraft. This vehicle can be paradropped.
