   The FR F2 is the standard sniper rifle of the French military. This weapon is also in service with the French law enforcement forces. It is an improved version of the previous FR F1 with some general upgrades. Its production commenced in 1984. The FR F2 is a combat proven weapon in many theatres. This sniper rifle was manufactured only for military and law enforcement personnel. It is not available for civilian customers.

   The FR F2 is a bolt action rifle, chambered for the 7.62x51 mm (.308) ammunition. It is worth mentioning that the previous FR F1 was chambered for 7.5x54 mm ammunition.

   This weapon has wooden furniture. It has a pistol grip, which makes the rifle much easier to control and shoot.

   Weapon is fed from detachable box-shape magazines, holding 10 rounds.

   The FR F2 comes with integral bipod, located just ahead of the receiver.

   This rifle is equipped with 6x or 8x magnification scope. It is usually fitted with the APX L806 or SCROME J8 scopes. This sniper rifle has an effective range of 800 m.
