The CZ-75 Automatic pistol was developed for special military and police units, such as SWAT teams. It first appeared in 1992 and was mainly aimed at the export market. Currently only few automatic pistols are being produced in the world.

The CZ-75 Automatic is a version of the CZ-75B. The pistol has some modifications to allow full-auto capability. It fires in semi-auto or full-auto modes. It is a more effective alternative for a close quarter combat than standard semi-automatic pistols. It fits the gap between semi-automatic pistols and submachine guns. The original CZ-75 proved to be reliably and is widely used by military and law enforcement forces from all around the world.

This pistol has a relatively compact size. It is only slightly larger than the standard CZ-75. The CZ-75 Automatic is a short-recoil operated weapon. It uses a modified Browning's short-recoil locking system. This pistol is chambered for a 9x19 mm Parabellum ammunition. It has improved firepower comparing with the standard CZ-75. Cyclic rate of fire is 1 000 rounds per minute.

This pistol has an all-metal construction. Some pistols have a longer ported barrel, that extends beyond the end of the slide. It reduces muzzle climb during automatic fire with the help of escaping gas. However the CZ-75 Automatic is also available with a standard barrel.

This automatic pistol can fire both in double-action or single-action firing sequence. A safety switch is located on the left side of the frame. It also acts as a fire mode selector. Also there is an internal firing pin safety.

This automatic pistol is fed from a double-stack magazine, that holds 16 rounds. It is the same magazine, as used on the CZ-75. Also extended capacity magazines, that hold 20 rounds are available. A spare magazine can be attached upside down below the barrel and used as a front grip. This feature allows to control pistol during automatic fire, thus improving accuracy at longer range. A magazine release button can be repositioned from one side of the grip to another.

This pistol has a simple iron sights. The rear sight can be adjusted for windage. Sighting range is 50 meters. Effective range of fire is also 50 meters. The pistol is easy to control even in full-auto mode. A burst of shots can be easily kept on the target at a range of up to 20 meters.
