The JCB 524-50M is a small rough-terrain telescopic forklift. It is one of the smallest machines in the JCB line of telehandlers. The 524-50M is a militarized version of the commercial 524-50. It was specially developed to meet a British armed forces requirement. A total of 329 of these forklifts were delivered to the British Army to replace the ageing fleet of JCB 410M machines.

Due to its compact dimensions it can operate where access and headroom are restricted. For example inside standard shipping containers. It is used to handle palletized loads and boxes with weapons and ammunition, as well as other loads.

The JCB 524-50M can handle loads with a maximum weight of 2.4 t. Its telescopic boom can reach into truck and containers. Maximum reach forward is 2.9 m. Maximum lift height is 5.3 m.

The front-mounted fork attachment can be rapidly replaced with a 1 m general purpose bucket. It can be used for loose material handling, earthworking and other operations.

The cab provides protection for the operator against falling objects and rollover.

This military forklift is powered by a 4.4-liter JCB TC-63 diesel engine, developing 85 hp.

This military forklift can be airlifted by a C-130 Hercules tactical cargo aircraft. It can be also carried underslung by the CH-47 Chinook helicopter.

There is also a slightly larger JCB 525-50M all-terrain forklift, that is used by the Royal Air Force to handle ammunition and weapons.
