The Kung Feng VI multiple launch rocket system is operational with Taiwan. Its development commenced in 1978 and it entered service with Taiwan Army in 1982. The main mission of this artillery rocket system is costal defense from enemy ships and landing craft. The Kung Feng VI artillery rocket system proved to be very effective against landing operations.

The Kung Feng VI has 45 launching tubes for 117-mm artillery rockets. It fires two types of rockets with various warheads. A standard rocket is 1.8 m long. It carries HE or incendiary white phosphorus warheads. Another type of rockets carries cluster warheads. These rockets are about 2.16 m long. Maximum range of fire is about 20 km, however effective range is about 15 km. The Kung Feng VI can fire single rockets or launch a full salvo. Full salvo duration is 23 seconds.

The Kung Feng VI launcher is mounted on the M52A1 military truck. Vehicle has a full-time all wheel drive. Four stabilizers are lowered to the ground before firing.

Rockets are reloaded manually by the crew within 15 minutes. Reload rockets are carried by escorting truck.

Recently a new Ray Ting 2000 (RT2000) multiple launch rocket system was developed to replace the ageing Kung Feng VI. It is unknown if the RT2000 is already operational, however Taiwan Army's requirement is estimated to be for up to 150 systems.
