The Matador 8x8 armored personnel carrier was developed by a Streit Group of Canada. It was first publicly revealed in 2015. This armored vehicle is aimed at export customers.

It seems that the Matador is based on Ukrainian KrAZ H27.3EX 8x8 truck. It is worth noting that Canadian Streit Group developed a number of armored vehicles in partnership with KrAZ of Ukraine.

The Strait Group claims that the Matador provides ballistic protection against 14.5-mm armor-piercing rounds. It is likely that only front arc provides this level of protection.

Vehicle has a V-shaped hull, that deflects mine blasts away.

The Matador is operated by a crew of 2, including commander and driver. It can carry 10 fully-equipped troops. Soldiers egress and dismount via rear doors. Also there are roof hatches for observation, firing and emergency exit.

The Matador armored personnel carrier, that was revealed in 2015, carries no weapons. However this armored vehicle can be fitted with remotely controlled weapon station, armed with a 12.7-mm machine gun, or a one-man turret. This vehicle lacks firing ports in order not to compromise its armor protection.

The Matador is powered by Volvo D12D 12.1-liter turbocharged diesel engine, developing 420 hp. This engine is commercially available. It is used in Volvo construction machines, such as front-end loaders, dump trucks, excavators and so on. Engine is located behind the driving compartment. It is mated to a Volvo 6-speed automatic transmission. The Matador has a full-time all-wheel drive.

Hurricane mine resistant ambush protected vehicle. It is another development of the Streit Group in partnership with KrAZ of Ukraine. However it is a dedicated mine protected vehicle, rather than an armored personnel carrier. It was first publicly revealed in 2015.
