The SPM-3 is a Russian mine resistant ambush protected vehicle, developed specially for the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs, under the BTR-VV programme. It is a new design, rather than derivative of the previous SPM-1 and SPM-2 Tigr. This MRAP vehicle is being evaluated by the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs for possible acceptance to service in 2014.

The SPM-3 special armored police vehicle provides all-round protection against 7.62-mm armor-piercing rounds. Vehicle has a V-shaped hull and can withstand 6 kg mine blast under any wheel. NBC protection and automatic fire suppression systems are optional.

The SPM-3 MRAP can be armed with remotely controlled 12.7-mm machine gun or other weapons.

This mine resistant ambush protected vehicle has a crew of two and accommodates 8 troops. Troops enter and leave the vehicle through the rear doors or roof hatches.

The SPM-3 uses a number of proven automotive components, such as suspension and drive train of the BTR-90 APC, transmission and engine from the Ural-4320. The SPM-3 is powered by a YaMZ-7601 diesel engine, developing 330 hp. Vehicle has a full-time all-wheel drive.

Proposed variants of the SPM-3 include a troop carrier, internal security vehicle, command vehicle and ambulance.
