The Ratel Logistics Vehicle is an armored cargo vehicle designed and built in South Africa. It is based upon the Ratel 6x6 armored car family, and was likely intended to be used to ferry supplies to and from units operating Ratels in the field.

It was evaluated by the SADF, but for reasons unknown the general public, it did not proceed to production. As no further interest was expressed in this vehicle over the following decades, the project is effectively dead.

The front cab is the same as on the 6x6 Ratels, but the middle of the chassis is stretched, and cut-down to a flatbed cargo area, and the rear cab is more rectangular. The front and middle-front wheels are closely-spaced, as are the rear and middle-rear wheels, with a wide gap between the middle-front and middle-rear wheels. A long cargo crane is stowed folded-down for transport between the roof of the front and rear cabs and locked in place on either end, parallel to the length of the vehicle; apparently, cargo lashed down onto the flatbed is stabilized by wrapping the pallet straps over the crane. The appearance of the midsection of the chassis can vary widely, depending on what kind of payload is carried, but cargo is generally carried inside rectangular containers.

The powertrain, suspension, and running gear are the same as those on the 6x6 Ratels, apart from the obvious addition of an extra forward axle, and a much-modified steering system. The engine is still located in the rear cab, on the left side, as on 6x6 Ratels. The Ratel logistics vehicle also uses the same wheels and tires as every other Ratel variant. No information is available as to how much cargo the Ratel logistics vehicle can carry.

Armament may be fitted to a single skate mount over the front cab, in the form of either a 7.62-mm MG4 machine gun, a 12.7-mm M2HB heavy machine gun, or a 40-mm Mk.19 grenade launcher.

The Ratel logistics vehicle has the same protection features as the other Ratel variants, including protection against 23-mm shells over the frontal arc, a V-shaped hull that protects against landmines. Provisions for spall liners and a collective NBC System were fitted as well. Armored containers may have been developed for the Ratel logistics vehicle, but this cannot be confirmed.

The unit cost of this vehicle is unknown, but with the cancellation of the project in the 1980s, it is not offered anyway.

Only 2 prototypes of this vehicle were built, and there are no known variants.
