The Mowag Piranha III family of vehicles offers the features and performances required of a modern, multi-role vehicle, which is well suited to practically any battlefield or piece-keeping/peace-enforcing role anywhere in the world, either as an armored personnel carrier or an ideal platform for a complete range of weapons systems from small-caliber turrets up to the high firepower of a 105 mm gun.

The Armored Command Vehicle (ACV) is in Swedish Navy service, being deployed to the coastal artillery brigades. It is a highly mobile, well protected command, control, communications and information platform whose crew members are protected from light machine-gun rounds and artillery shell splinters by hardened steel plate armor.

The crew compartment is fully air conditioned, while the vehicle has been designed to operate in a nuclear, biological and chemical (NBC) environment.

The vehicle is highly mobile: a hydropneumatic system with a MOWAG-designed height adjustment system at all wheel stations in combination with the new wheels system with CTIS and ABS and the choice of tyre sizes to suit any type of terrain, as well as high power-to-weight ratio power packs, have resulted in a class of wheeled vehicles with a mobility comparable to tracked vehicles, whilst still retaining air transportability.
