The MOWAG
Eagle IV was developed as a private venture. It follows the line of
the Eagle I, II and III. Previous vehicles were based on the
HMMWV 4x4 chassis. Production of the
Eagle IV began in 2003. This armored vehicle uses new MOWAG DURO III
chassis. The Eagle IV is suitable for reconnaissance, patrol,
communication and observation mission. It is produced since 2003.
This vehicle is currently in service with the Denmark (90) and
Germany (198 ordered).
Armor of the
Eagle IV protects against 7.62x39 mm armor-piercing rounds and
artillery shell splinters. Vehicle has improved protection against landmines.
It withstands 6 kg anti-tank mine blast under any wheel. NBC protection system
is proposed as an option.
The Eagle IV
can be fitted with a roof mounted remotely controlled weapon
station, armed with 7.62-mm or 12.7-mm machine guns. Alternatively
it can be fitted with 40-mm automatic grenade
launcher. Some vehicle are equipped with smoke grenade dischargers.
This armored
scout car
provides seating for driver and four troops. It also has a payload
capacity of 2 400 kg. It can also tow light trailers.
The Eagle IV
is based on the MOWAG DURO III (DUrable and RObust) chassis. Vehicle
is powered by a Cummins ISBe 5.9-liter turbocharged diesel engine, developing 250
hp. It has a full-time all-wheel drive. This armored vehicle is fitted with run-flat tyres.
A central tyre inflation system is optional. Available variants of
the Eagle IV include an armored ambulance.
