The KrAZ MPV (Mine Protected Vehicle) was jointly developed by AvtoKrAZ of Ukraine and Shri Lakshim Defense Solutions Ltd (SLDSL) of India. It is also referred as KrAZ 01-1-11/SLDSL. Development of this vehicle commenced in 2010. The Ukrainian company provided chassis, engine and other automotive components, while the Indian company produced armored hull. A prototype was completed in 2012. This MRAP vehicle is being proposed for the Indian military.

This mine resistant ambush protected vehicle is based on the KrAZ-5233VE 4x4 truck. Vehicle has a right-hand drive.

The main role of this vehicle is to carry troops and patrol in the areas where mines, improvised explosive devices and ambushed are likely to be encountered.

Vehicle has a crew of two and can carry 10 soldiers. Troops enter the vehicle via rear door. Commander and driver use side doors. There are some firing ports provided for the troops to fire their individual weapons. There is also a cargo area at the rear. Vehicle has a payload capacity of 2 000 kg.

The KrAZ MPV has a V-shaped hull which deflects mine blasts from the vehicle. It withstands explosions equivalent to 6 kg of TNT anywhere under the hull. Ballistic protection is against 7.62x39 mm armor-piercing rounds. Vehicle is also fitted with NBC protection system.

This MRAP can be armed with a roof-mounted 12.7-mm machine gun or 40-mm automatic grenade launcher. It can be also armed with other weapons or remotely controlled weapon stations.

The KrAZ MPV is powered by a Russian YaMZ-238DE2 turbocharged diesel engine, developing 330 hp. This is used on Ukrainian KrAZ-6322 military truck and its derivatives. It complies with EURO 2 emission requirements. It is mated to Chinese Shaanxi 9-speed manual transmission.

Later AvtoKrAZ teamed up with other companies to produce new MRAP vehicles. The KrAZ ASV Panthera K-10 was jointly developed with Ares Security Vehicles of United Arab Emirates. It was revealed in 2013. The KrAZ MPV TC (Shrek One) is another MRAP, jointly developed with Streit Group of Canada. This one is also aimed to meet a possible Indian requirement. Both of these vehicles are also based on the KrAZ-5233VE.
