The CM-32
Yunpao (Cloud Leopard) armored personnel carrier is a further
development of the previous
CM-31 design. This armored personnel
carrier was originally developed by Timoney of Ireland. Project was
launched in 2002 and in 2007 production commenced. Taiwan initially
ordered 600 vehicles, however this number might be increased.
Armor of the CM-32 Yupao provides all-round protection against 7.62-mm armor-piercing
rounds. Frontal arc withstands 12.7-mm AP rounds. NBC protection and
automatic fire suppression systems are fitted as standard. This APC
has a V-shaped hull and is well protected against landmines. Vehicle can
withstand 12 kg TNT explosion under any wheel.
The CM-32 is
armed with a 20-mm cannon. Secondary armament consists of a
roof-mounted 7.62-mm machine gun.
This armored
personnel carrier has
a crew of three and can carry 6 troops. Troops enter and leave the
vehicle through the rear ramp or roof hatches.
The CM-32
Yunpao is powered by a Caterpillar C12 turbocharged diesel engine, developing
410 horsepower. Vehicle has a full-time all wheel drive and is
fitted with a central tyre pressure system. The Yunpao is amphibious.
