The Bobr (beaver) armored reconnaissance vehicle was developed by the Polish AMZ Kutno. Development commenced in 2012. This vehicle was developed as a private venture. The Bobr was first revealed in 2013. It is proposed as a replacement for the ageing BRDM-2 amphibious scout cars.

In concept the Bobr is similar to the BRDM-2. It shares some similarities with a larger Hipopotam 8x8 multi-role armored vehicle, also developed by AMZ Kutno. Unusual feature of the Bobr is that it lacks side doors. Crew and scouts enter and leave the vehicle via rear doors or roof hatches.

The Bobr has a crew of about 3 men and can carry about 5 scouts.

Hull of the vehicle is of welded steel construction. Armor of the Bobr provides all-round protection against the 7.62x39-mm armor-piercing rounds. Add-on armor can be fitted.

Prototype of the Bobr carried no armament. This armored vehicle can be fitted with various remotely controlled weapons and specialized reconnaissance equipment. Vehicle is likely to be fitted with NBC protection and automatic fire suppression equipment.

Vehicle is powered by a Cummins 6ISBe285 turbocharged diesel engine, developing 285 hp. It is a commercially available truck engine. Its availability reduces the price of the vehicle and simplifies maintenance. Engine is located in the middle of the hull, behind the driving compartment. It drives all four wheels.

The Bobr is fully amphibious. On water it is propelled by two waterjets. Amphibious speed on water is about 10 km/h. This feature is useful, as on European battlefield there are many rivers and lakes to cross.
