The Bionix
25 infantry fighting vehicle reportedly entered service with
Singapore Army in 1997 and is offered for export customers. It uses
many western components. It is smaller, lighter, and more affordable
than similar NATO infantry fighting vehicles, such as
Bradley and
Warrior. It has the potential to meet a number of countries
requirement for a medium-weight armored vehicles.
The Bionix
25 IFV is fitted with a two-man turret, housing a combat proven
25-mm M242 cannon and a coaxial 7.62-mm machine gun. Another 7.62-mm
MG is mounted over commander's hatch. The third MG was added over
the troops compartment as there are no firing ports.
Vehicle has
a conventional layout with the driver and the power pack in front,
turret in the center and troop compartment in the rear. It has a
crew of three and can accommodate up to 7 troops.
Vehicle is
not amphibious unless it is fitted with a specially developed kit.
This IFV has
tremendous growth potential as it is based on the modular system.
The Bionix can be adapted using various weapons stations. It can
also be configured for command, recovery and support roles.
Variants

improved variant of the Bionix, fitted with digital battle
management system, modular armor and new cannon. The Bionix II has
the same hull as it's predecessor. This vehicle entered service with
the Singapore Army in 2006;

carrier, armed with a 12.7-mm machine gun and a 40-mm automatic
grenade launcher;
